Curo’r Copa yn dipyn o her, ond yn brofiad arbennig

gan Gwion James, uwch weithredwr cyfrif FUWIS, cangen Gaerfyrddin
Am dri o’r gloch bore Dydd Gwener yr 22ain o Fehefin daeth criw o staff ac aelodau’r undeb ynghyd i daclo her elusennol Curo’r Copa.

I gefnogi elusennau’r llywydd eleni yr her oedd i ddringo’r Wyddfa tair gwaith mewn un dydd. Y man cychwyn oedd Nantgwynant ger Beddgelert a llwybr Watcin i’r copa. Wrth gerdded cododd yr haul ond yn anffodus ni gododd y niwl o gopa’r wyddfa felly gyda dim i’w weld dyma throi yn syth i lawr tua’r Gorllewin ar lwybr Cwellyn.

Cafwyd brecwast a chroeso da gan John hardy a’r teulu yn fferm Clogwyn Y Gwin ger Rhyd-ddu cyn anelu at Rhyd-Ddu ac ail gymal y daith. Ymunodd nifer o gerddwyr ychwanegol y daith yn Rhyd-Ddu, wrth i bawb anelu am y copa am yr ail waith.

Gyda phawb wedi cynhesu dyma gychwyn ar lwybr Rhyd-Ddu ar wib, gyda’r cerddwyr cyntaf yn oedi dim wrth gyrraedd y copa a hynny o dan ddwy awr!

Wedi paned yn hafod eryri dyma droi am i lawr eto, y tro hyn i’r dwyrain ar lwybr y mwynwyr tuag ar Pen Y Pass. erbyn cyrraedd roedd y diwrnod wedi gwella, y gwynt wedi tawelu a’r haul allan. Ymunodd cerddwyr ychwanegol yn Pen Y Pass, ac ar ol cinio dyma pawb yn troi ei golygon at y copa am y tro olaf ar lwybr Pyg.

erbyn hanner ffordd roedd nifer yn dechrau blino o dan yr haul cynnes ond gwelwyd ymroddiad a phenderfyniad aruthrol gan rai i ddal ati a chyrraedd y Copa am y trydydd tro.

Roedd dod lawr y llwybr olaf Llanberis yn fwy hamddenol gyda chyfle i staff ac aelodau sgwrsio gyda’i gilydd, ac i sgwrsio gyda cherddwyr eraill. Gwnaed gymaint o argraff ar rai cerddwyr eraill gan yr ymdrech fel ei bod wedi cyfrannu yn wirfoddol tuag at yr elusen.

Roedd pawb yn falch iawn o weld Llanberis ac yn falch iawn o’r lift yn ol i Nantgwynant, lle roedd Teleri Fielden wedi paratoi BBQ i bawb yn Llyndy Isaf.

Bu cyfle yma i ymlacio ac adlewyrchu ar ymdrech y dydd. Roedd hi’n dipyn o her, ond yn brofiad arbennig i weld golygfeydd anhygoel eryri o bob cyfeiriad. Roedd hi hefyd yn braf i gael y cyfle i gyfarfod gyda staff ac aelodau o siroedd eraill.

mae miloedd o bunnoedd eisioes wedi ei gasglu tuag at yr elusen a bydd cronfa Curo’r Copa ar agor tan y 13eg o Orffennaf. I gyfrannu gellir cysylltu gyda’r swyddfeydd sirol neu ar-lein ar www.fuw.org.uk/giving

At three o’clock in the morning, on Friday June 22, a group of staff and union members came together to tackle the Snowdonia 6 Challenge. To support the president’s charities this year, the challenge was to climb Snowdon three times in one day. The starting point was Nantgwynant near Beddgelert and the Watkin path towards the summit. As we walked, the sun rose, but, unfortunately, the summit was shrouded in fog, and with no views to see, we headed to the West and straight down the Snowdon Ranger Path. Breakfast and a warm welcome awaited us with John Hardy and his family at Clogwyn y Gwin farm near Rhyd-ddu before aiming towards the Rhyd-Ddu path and the second leg of the challenge. A number of extra walkers joined us at Rhyd-Ddu, as everyone aimed towards the summit for the second time. With everyone ready to go, we started walking the Rhyd-Ddu path at a rapid pace, with the first walkers reaching the summit in under two hours! After a cuppa in Hafod Eryri, we headed down again, this time towards the east on the Miners’ path towards Pen y Pass. By this point the weather had improved, the wind had eased and the sun was shining. More walkers joined us at Pen y Pass, and after lunch, everyone headed towards the summit for the last time on the Pyg path. By halfway, many began to get tired in the warm sun but some had tremendous commitment and determination to keep going to reach the summit for the third time. Walking down the final path towards Llanberis was more relaxed with an opportunity for staff and members to chat with each other, and to chat with other walkers. Some walkers were so impressed by the effort that they contributed voluntarily towards the charity. Everyone was very pleased to see Llanberis and grateful for the lift back to Nantgwynant, where Teleri Fielden had prepared a BBQ for everyone at Llyndy Isaf. There was an opportunity to relax and reflect on the day’s effort. It was quite a challenge, but it was a great experience to see the amazing sights of Snowdonia from all directions. It was also nice to have the opportunity to meet staff and members from other counties. Thousands of pounds has already been raised towards the charity and the Snowdonia 6 challenge fund will be open until July 13. To contribute you can contact the county offices or online at www.fuw.org.uk/giving
