Exciting Royal Welsh promised

LIVESTOCK classes for this month’s Royal Welsh Show have once again attracted thousands of entries from far and wide promising a popular and exciting four days of competitions on July 20-23 at the showground in Llanelwedd, Builth Wells.



The event attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually to celebrate the best of Welsh and British agriculture. Amongst them there are always VIPs and special guests and this year is no exception.

“The society is delighted that Phil Hogan, the new European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, has agreed to open this year’s Royal Welsh Show,” Royal Welsh Agricultural Society (RWAS) board of directors chairman John T Davies revealed. “The show will provide an excellent platform for the Commissioner to discuss issues facing Welsh agriculture.”

Mr Hogan’s role includes ensuring that European Union (EU) agricultural and rural development policies promote growth, investment and new jobs, as well as reviewing the effectiveness of EU spending on agriculture and rural development. In addition to the fantastic livestock, special guests, great shopping and free parking, the show provides something to interest everyone through its wide range of activities including forestry, horticulture, crafts, countryside sports, food and drink and a 12-hour programme each day of exciting entertainment, attractions and displays.



The big attractions in the main ring this year will be the incredible Metropolitan Police Mounted Branch Activity Ride, the Bolddog Lings Freestyle Motorcross Team, Ye Olde Redtail Falconry Display (Ray and Wendy Aliker), Tristar Carriage Driving, Merion Owen and the Quack Pack, Inter Hunt Relay, trotting competitions and much more. On the first three days of the show there will also be a spectacular double aerial display from a Hawker Hurricane and Spitfire from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Visitors to the show will once again be able to make full use of the Royal Welsh Show App which will include a full timetable of events, competitions, results, information on local traffic and weather.

The App will be available to download free from the iTunes Store and Google Play closer to the show.
