Scheduled for a mid- year arrival here, Ford’s “mid-life refresh” for the current Ranger goes beyond the usual front-end “facelift” and posher, more refined interior. Collision and pedestrian detection alert/auto-braking together with (driver activated) intelligent speed limit conformity are now standard.
The big news is a powertrain revamp. The 2.2TD 4-cyl and 3.2TD 5-cyl engines go, replaced by a 2.0- litre ‘EcoBlue TD in three stages of tune: 130ps, 170ps or 213ps in Bi-Turbo form.
A 6-speed manual gearbox remains available but the (cost option) auto-box is now 10-speed. More on this soon.
