ANGLESEY

Cyfarfod Cyffredinol blynyddol

Ar nos Wener Mehefin 14eg cynhaliwyd Cyfarfod Cyffredinol Blynyddol y sir draw ym Mhafiliwn Cae Sioe Môn. Cafwyd noson hynod o ddifyr yng nghwmni’r ddau ŵr gwadd, Mr Albert Owen ein Haelod Seneddol a Sarjant Trystan Bevan o Heddlu Gogledd Cymru.

Brexit oedd pwnc trafod agoriadol y noson gyda thrafodaethau chwil poeth gyda’r Aelod Seneddol cyn symud ymlaen at gyflwyniad hynod o ddifyr am ddiogelwch ar y ffyrdd gan yr heddlu a syfrdanwyd pawb a oedd yn bresennol. Cafwyd adroddiad am weithgareddau’r gangen dros y deuddeng mis diwethaf cyn cloi gyda chyfle am sgwrs dros baned a chacen.

Mae’n sicr bod pawb wedi mwynhau a dysgu llawer o’r noson felly hoffwn ddiolch yn fawr i’r ddau ŵr gwadd am eu hamser a gan hefyd orffen drwy ddiolch i Mr Gavin Williams am ei waith a’i gefnogaeth fel Llywydd yr Undeb yma ym Môn dros y ddwy flynedd ddiwethaf.

On Friday June 14th the County AGM was held at the Anglesey Showground Pavilion. It was a very enjoyable evening in the company of the two guest speakers, Mr Albert Owen our MP and Sergeant Trystan Bevan from North Wales Police.

Brexit was a hot debate with our MP at the beginning of the evening before moving on to a very interesting presentation by the police on road safety which shocked those present. A report was given on the branch’s activities over the last twelve months before closing with an opportunity for a chat over a cup of tea and some cake.

Everyone enjoyed the informative evening and we’d like to thank the two guest speakers for their time and also Mr Gavin Williams for his work and support as President of the Union here in Anglesey over the last two years.

BRECON & RADNOR

County AgM

At our recent, lively, County Exec Committee AGM, the Brecon & Radnor County Exec voted in a new team of County Officials. Darren Williams has been appointed as County President. He is also a Farmer Director of the FUW.

The Committee gave a warm welcome to Dwylan Davies as their new Chairman. Dwylan is a beef and sheep farmer from Cynghordy, near Llandovery. He runs sheep on the Epynt Ranges and has been Chairman of the Graziers Association for the past three years. He is married to Carol and they have two daughters, both primary school teachers, one in Rhayader and one in Kuwait.

Dwylan was born in Tirabad and attended the local primary school before moving to Builth Wells High School. He studied agriculture at Aberystwyth University before starting to farm full-time. Dwylan has recently retired as a school governor after 25 years of service in various schools which his daughters have attended.

The position of Vice-Chairman is unfilled following Dwylan’s promotion – if you are interested in being nominated for this role, please contact us here in the county office.

Cafwyd diwrnod prysur tu hwnt yn croesawu aelodau, ffrindiau a gwleidyddion i stondin yr Undeb. Diolch yn fawr iawn i bawb a fu’n coginio cacennau ar gyfer y stondin. Cafwyd sawl trafodaeth ddifyr gan gynnwys rheolau arfaethedig ar gyfer storio tail, cwblhau ffurflenni a Brexit wrth gwrs.

We had a wonderful day at Nefyn Show at the beginning of May with the weather extremely favourable and attracted an incredible number of competitors in the livestock sections. We had a very busy day welcoming members, friends and politicians to the Union stand. Thank you very much to everyone who baked cakes for the stand. There were many interesting discussions including proposed rules for storing manure, completing forms and Brexit of course.

MEIRIONNYDD

Academi UAC Gogledd Orllewin Cymru

Cafwyd taith fferm ragorol gyda chriw Academi UAC ar ddiwedd mis Mai, a braf oedd gweld cynrychiolwyr o ganghennau Meirionnydd, Caernarfon ac Ynys Môn yn dod at ei gilydd. Roedd yn agoriad llygad i bawb gael ymweld â Cogent sy’n gweithredu’r stydiau teirw mwyaf o fewn y DU. Er gwaethaf eu llwyddiant rhyngwladol, maent yn parhau i fod yn ymrwymedig i ffermwyr ac yn gweithio’n agos mewn partneriaeth â hwy i sicrhau ansawdd uchel. Roedd yn amlwg fod Cogent yn datblygu’n ddyddiol ac yn parhau â’u gwaith i wella proses, ymchwil a datblygiad technolegau newydd, gyda’r nod i gynorthwyo’r busnesau ffermio modern.

Buom hefyd yn ymweld â Grosvenor Farms, fferm gymysg 2,330 hectar ar Ystâd Eaton ger Caer. Roedd diddordeb arbennig yn y parlwr godro enfawr lle mae 2,100 o wartheg yn cael eu godro tair gwaith y dydd yno. Mae godro’n digwydd ar barlwr crwn lle mae’r gwartheg yn wynebu ei gilydd. Y rheswm dros ddewis y dull yma yw ei fod wedi profi i ymlacio’r gwartheg wrth eu godro. Roedd effeithiolrwydd gwych drwy’r fferm, gyda dros 50 o bobl yn gyflogedig yno.

Bu’r daith yn llwyddiant mawr, ac os oes unrhyw un a diddordeb dod ar ein teithiau, mae croeso i chi gysylltu gyda ni. Byddem hefyd yn croesawu unrhyw syniadau newydd ar gyfer gwaith i’r academi yn y dyfodol.

The FUW Academy enjoyed an excellent farm trip at the end of May, and it was good to see representatives from the Meirionnydd, Caernarfon and Anglesey branches coming together. It was an eye opener for everyone to visit Cogent who operate the largest bull stud in the UK. Despite their international success, they remain committed to farmers and work closely in partnership with them to ensure high quality. It was clear that Cogent is constantly developing and continuing its work to improve the process, research and development of new technologies, with the aim of assisting the modern farming businesses. We also visited Grosvenor Farms, a 2,330 hectare mixed farm on the Eaton Estate near Chester. There was particular interest in the massive milking parlour where 2,100 cattle are milked three times a day. Milking takes place on a rotary parlour where the cattle face each other. The reason for choosing this method is that it has been proven to relax the cows whilst being milked. There was great efficiency throughout the farm, with over 50 people employed there. The trip was very successful, and if anyone is interested in coming on our tours, please contact us. We would also welcome any new ideas for future academy work.

Pwyllgor Gwaith

O’r chwith, Is-Gadeirydd Edwin Jones, Tymawr, Carrog; Llywydd y Sir Olwen Ford, Llanfrothen; Cadeirydd y Sir Sion Ifans, Brynuchaf, Llanymawddwy a cyn-Gadeirydd Geraint Davies, Fedw Arian, Y Bala.

Ym Mhwyllgor Gwaith Sirol Meirionnydd yn ddiweddar, mynegwyd ein llongyfarchiadau a’n dymuniadau gorau i Sion Ifans, Brynuchaf, Llanymawddwy ar gael ei ethol yn Gadeirydd yr Undeb yn y Sir. Yn yr un fford hefyd, cafodd Edwin Jones, Tymawr, Carrog ei longyfarch ar gael ei ethol yn Is-Gadeirydd. Dymunwn bob rhwyddineb iddynt yn eu gwaith.

Bu’r noson hefyd yn gyfle i ddiolch yn fawr iawn i Geraint Davies, Fedw Arian, y Bala am ei holl waith fel Cadeirydd UAC Meirionnydd dros y ddwy flynedd diwethaf. Rhoddodd lawer iawn o amser ac egni i’r gwaith, a chafwyd sawl ymweliad i’w fferm. Gwerthfawrogwn y cyfan yn fawr iawn.

In the recent Meirionnydd County Executive Committee, we congratulated Sion Ifans, Purchaf, Llanymawddwy on being elected as the Union’s County Chairman. Congratulations also to Edwin Jones, Tymawr, Carrog on being elected as Vice-Chairman. We wish them all the best with their work. The evening was also an opportunity to thank Geraint Davies, Fedw Arian, Bala for all his work as Meirionnydd FUW Chairman over the last two years. He gave a lot of his time and energy to the work, and there were several visits to his farm. We appreciate it all very much.
