GWENT

Major concerns for Gwent members

At the recent Gwent County Executive, discussions centred around three topical issues. The introduction of Quarantine Units has caused serious concerns amongst farmers.

The financial imposition of complying with new regulations raises doubts over the future of smaller local shows, whilst creating a myriad of problems during the Autumn sales period.

Members are determined to keep this issue on the political agenda and if you have any examples of the problems that the new regulations have caused you please let us know.

The other two main topics of discussion were the new Tb regulations, plus the ever increasing problem of livestock worrying by dogs. The intention is to arrange local meetings to further explore the current situation. For further details please contact Gwent county office on 01873 853280.

Trafodaethau seiberdrosedd

Ym Mhwyllgor Gwaith cangen Meirionnydd daeth Christine Hughes atom, Rheolwraig Amaethyddol Banc Barclays yng Nghanolbarth Cymru. Pwrpas yr ymweliad oedd sôn am dwyll mewn cyfrifiaduron a’r we (cyber crime), pwnc sydd yn datblygu i fod yn bwysig dros ben.

Cafwyd cyflwyniad diddorol ac addysgiadol dros ben ganddi, ac ymysg materion mwyaf pwysig, oedd y pwyslais o gadw cyfrineiriau’n gyfrinachol a gwneud yn siŵr bod ffermwyr yn deall sut i ddefnyddio’u safleoedd rhwydweithio cymdeithasol yn hollol saff.

Is-gadeirydd cangen Meirionnydd Sion Ifans; Cadeirydd Geraint Davies a Christine Hughes o Barclays.

Amlinellodd Christine y ffyrdd gwahanol y mae twyllwyr yn defnyddio safleoedd cymdeithasol, sef vishing (rhoi manylion i dwyllwyr sydd yn cymryd arnynt eu bod yn galw o’ch banc), SMiShing (negeseuon testun sy’n edrych yn debyg i rai gan eich banc ac yn gofyn i roi manylion y cyfrif) a mobile bugs, (sydd yn ymddwyn fel malware ar eich ffôn symudol; yn rheoli ac yna am byth.)

Mae hyn yn amlwg yn fater pwysig dros ben i ffermwyr ac i’r cyhoedd yn gyffredinol, ac amlinellodd Christine deg cam sy’n berthnasol i fusnesau sy’n cynnwys codi ymwybyddiaeth ac addysg, cael sicrwydd o’r rhwydwaith ac yn sicr osgoi cysylltu â rhwydweithiau dieithr, gwneud yn siŵr bod y fersiwn diweddaraf o’r meddalwedd ar gael a gwneud asesiad risg yn gyson.

Materion eraill oedd sicrhau newid mynediad i rai manylion yn gyson, sicrhau nad yw cyfrineiriau yn cael eu datgan i neb, a hefyd gwneud yn siŵr fod y cyfrineiriau ddim yn rhai amlwg a’i newid yn aml.

Yn sicr cafwyd noson fuddiol dros ben a gwneud i bawb feddwl yn ofalus iawn am y materion yma yn y dyfodol. Diolch i Christine am ddod atom.

Minimum soil cover after harvest

With the autumn weather that we have been having leading to delays in harvest we thought that it would be useful to provide a reminder of the cross compliance rules relating to minimum soil cover after harvest. Once a crop has been harvested the following conditions must be met at all times between the day after

harvest and March 1:
• The stubble of the harvested crop remains in place.
• The land is prepared as a seedbed within 14 days for a crop and the crop is sown within a period of 10 days of the seedbed preparation. Please note that some exemptions do exist if the land becomes waterlogged prior to the point of sowing the crop.
• A soil risk assessment must be submitted to RPW if rough ploughed land is left during this time.

Further information is available in your cross compliance factsheets or from the county office.
