MEMBERS of FUW’s Montgomeryshire branch helped raise funds for St Michael’s Church in Forden by taking part in a Christmas Tree display exhibition. Local businesses and groups had the chance to decorate and display their own tree in the church during the weekend of December 5-7 and the FUW tree featured cows, pigs and sheep as tree baubles. Church treasurer Richard Dale said: “The whole weekend was a great success with people from far and wide visiting our church, shown off to its best. Thanks to all who stewarded the whole time, serving tea, coffee and cakes to the guests. “Also to Llandysil church for supplying most of the trees and those who decorated the trees so beautifully. “There was a great turnout for the Advent Service on the Sunday night in amongst the wonderfully decorated trees. The climax was the Christmas Tree Festival draw on the Monday evening where we had mulled wine and cheeses to finish the event. Thanks to all who supported the event as the church is much in need of the funds.” FUW Montgomeryshire county executive officer Emyr Wyn Davies said: “It was a very successful weekend and many people came to view the trees. “We really enjoyed bringing the countryside feel to the event and are always happy to help in raising funds for good causes such as this one. It also allows us to bridge the gap between town and country.”
