ANGLESEY farmer Peredur Hughes has been reappointed as chairman of the Wales Animal Health and Welfare Framework Group to run from April 7 this year to May 31 2018.
The Welsh Government launched the framework – which set out its 10-year vision to improve standards of animal health and welfare in Wales – last July.
Its development and implementation is supported by a Framework Group of appointed panel members from a range of backgrounds.
Mr Hughes was formerly chairman of the Animal Health and Welfare Strategy Steering Group, North Wales Regional TB Eradication Board and NFU Cymru president.
Deputy farming and food minister Rebecca Evans said: “I am pleased to announce Mr Hughes’ reappointment as Chair to the Wales Animal Health and Welfare Framework Group.
“He has had a long and distinguished career in farming and will continue to bring a wealth of experience to his role.”
One of the roles of the group is to ensure that the views of livestock keepers, animal owners and the veterinary profession are reflected in the 10-year framework that seeks to improve animal health and welfare standards across Wales and increase partnership working with animal keepers.
