Nofio yn Windermere yw sialens elusennol Louisa

Mae cynorthwyydd gweinyddol UaC Meirionnydd, Louisa Moore, yn ymgymryd â her bersonol ar Mehefin 10 i godi arian ar gyfer elusennau UaC – i nofio milltir yn Llyn Windermere.

Mae Louisa wedi gosod dau darged iddi ei hun – i godi £500 i Gymdeithas alzheimer Cymru a’r Farming Community Network (FCN) a chwblhau’r cwrs o dan awr.

Dywedodd Louisa: “Nid wyf y nofiwr gorau ond cwblheais y cwrs milltir yn 2016 mewn 1 awr a 15 eiliad a’r targed eleni yw curo hynny. Rwyf wedi llwyddo i gwblhau milltir mewn 40 munud yn y pwll yn ystod yr hyfforddiant, ond mae pawb yn gwybod fod dŵr agored yn rhywbeth hollol wahanol!”

Hyd yn hyn, mae Louisa wedi codi £200 trwy nawdd hael yn ystod cyfnod SaF. Mae hi’n awyddus i godi £500 i’r elusennau, gan fod ganddi brofiad uniongyrchol o sut y mae alzheimers yn effeithio ar y dioddefwr a’r teulu.

“Yn 2003, bu farw fy mam-gu o alzheimers yn 82 oed. Fel plentyn ar y
pryd, roedd yn ofnadwy i weld dirywiad meddwl a fu unwaith mor anhygoel ac roedd yn anodd gweld yr effaith ar y teulu.

“O’m gwaith yma yn yr undeb, rwyf hefyd wedi gweld pa mor bwysig yw edrych ar ôl iechyd meddwl yn y diwydiant amaethyddol. Mae’n bwysig ein bod yn codi arian i’r ddwy elusen hyn er mwyn parhau â’r gwaith anhygoel maen nhw’n ei wneud.”

FUW Meirionnydd administration assistant Louisa Moore is taking on a personal challenge on June 10 to raise money for the FUW’s charities – to swim a mile in Lake Windermere. Louisa has set herself two targets – to raise £500 for Alzheimer’s Society Cymru and the Farming Community Network and to complete the course in under an hour. She said: “I’m not an elite swimmer by any means, I completed the mile course in 2016 in 1 hour and 15 seconds and the target this year is to beat that. I’ve managed to complete a mile in 40 minutes in the pool during training, but we all know that open water is a completely different scenario!” So far, Louisa has raised £200 through generous sponsorship during the SAF period. She is keen to raise £500 for the charities, as she has first-hand experience of how debilitating Alzheimer’s is to the sufferer and the family. “My grandmother passed away in 2003 at the age of 82 from Alzheimer’s. As a child myself at the time, it was horrible to see the deterioration of a once incredible mind and it was difficult to see the impact that it had on the family. “From my work here at the union, I have also seen how important maintaining one’s mental health is in the agricultural industry. It is important that we raise money for both of these charities to continue the amazing work they do.” To donate, please go to www.justgiving.com/louisa- moore3 or email louisa.moore@fuw.org.uk for more details.
