FUW members D C Smith & Son, Blaenffynnon, Talog, Carmarthen, sold a consignment of heifers to John O’Connor CLOUNCAGH HEREFORDS, Co. Limerick, Republic of Ireland. As well as having one to the top herds in Ireland, John is also an internationallyrenowned judge, having judged the National Hereford Show in 2011 and the National Calf Show last autumn. He was keen to introduce these female lines into his herd. It is believed that the Spark heifer is the first from this line to go into the Republic of Ireland, although one was sold to Northern Ireland a few years ago and she has done very well for Aaron Patterson, Ballymartin Herefords, breeding a class winner at the Royal Ulster Show 2016. was sold at the Stockbury sale in 1884 to America for 3,800 guineas. It just goes to show that good breeding will stand the test of time.
