I would like to invite Fuw members to join us at the annual hcc conference on november 14 at the Members’ centre on the royal welsh Showground.
The title of this year’s conference is ‘The welsh way: the Premium Path to Supply-chain Sustainability’ and we’ll be focusing on several topics relevant to the red meat sector in wales currently.
The Minister for Environment, Energy and rural Affairs lesley Griffiths will be addressing the conference and hcc staff will present on the latest developments in relation to beef prices and market trends.
we also have two keynote speakers this year, providing insight on two crucial
areas of interest to our industry. Firstly, the rt. hon. lord Mark Price will be speaking on the future of the uK food industry and international trade. As the former managing director of waitrose and a former uK Government trade minister, lord Price is uniquely placed to share insight and experience of the inner workings of retail and trade at the highest level.
we are very much looking forward to hearing about his experiences and his understanding of the uK market place.
we additionally have dr Zoe harcombe joining us. dr harcombe is a researcher and author on diet and health and is an advocate of red meat in the diet. She will be breaking down media misconceptions and sharing her latest research around red meat and health.
The hcc staff will also be using the conference as a platform to update levy payers on hcc work and activities. Market development Manager rhys llywelyn
will be updating us on upcoming campaign plans whilst Industry development and relations Manager John richards will be speaking on developments in the red Meat development Programme.
There will also be segments on our environmental messaging and an update on thebeef price scenario.
registration will take place from 3pm
and conference proceedings are expected to close at 7.15pm – followed by a hot welsh Beef and welsh lamb buffet and an opportunity to network. we see the conference as a key opportunity for farmers, policy-makers, processors and anyone involved in the red meat sector to come together. It’s also a platform to understand more of the work which hcc is doing on the industry’s behalf – we would warmly invite Fuw members to join us on november 14 for what promises to be an instructive and informative afternoon.
