Training manager Victoria excels

AFTER her nomination by Simply the Best Training Centre, training manager Victoria Laurie won the Lantra leadership and management qualification award at Lantra’s 2015 Land-based Learner of the Year Awards presentations made during the Winter Fair. The new award was open to all Lantra leadership and management award clients who had undertaken training through the Lantra Leadership and Management Programme since April 2015. Candidates were judged on their ability to deal with challenges, their use of initiative, as well as their level of skill and attitude to learning. Victoria left sixth form with Alevels in design and technology in 2002. She has since worked hard to achieve her position as training manager at MWMAC Ltd in Rhayader. She demonstrated an appetite for continuous learning and has been able to implement the leadership and management qualification skills in the running of the business. She said: “As a training company we are committed to ongoing learning and development of our own staff, as well as those that we support at MWMAC.” Anne Hughes, also from MWMAC, was runner-up in the same category. She worked alongside her husband in a forestry contracting business before developing her own training business. She has also managed European funding programmes to support training for the trees and timber sector since 2010.
