Wales YFC travellers chosen

TWENTY-THREE lucky Wales YFC members were selected for a trip of a lifetime during the movement’s international programme selection day at the Royal Welsh Showground, Llanelwedd, last month. Members took part in interviews to battle for a place on their desired trip. Destinations included the USA, Finland, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Canada. Members also applied to attend the Rural Youth Spring Summer Seminar in Budapest, Autumn Seminar in Slovenia or even the European Rally that in Austria. Interviews were also held for the Elwyn Jones Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded bi-annually to one member wishing to organise their own educational study tour. Wales YFC international subcommittee chairman Dylan Bowen said: “Travelling with Wales YFC and the international programme is a once in a life time opportunity and extremely worthwhile for any member. “The programme ensures that young people in rural areas can benefit from the valuable experience of travel and exchange visits with other young people from all over the world. “The visits are totally unique and our objective is to give our members a special insight into the lives, work places, areas, cultures, agriculture and environment in a different country.” This year’s successful candidates are: ULSTER Angharad Evans, Glamorgan and one space remaining.
